Meet Stewart Munro, the Chairman of Country Valley Foods LTD! Stewart’s career started back in 1960 at the age of 16, when he began working for his father in the family retail butchery business. In 1971, Stewart Co-founded Teesside Frozen Foods & Cold Storage LTD, which focused on the distribution of Poultry products from its depot in Middlesbrough.
The business name was changed to Country Valley Foods, and a depot at Hurworth near Darlington was purchased. Stewart implemented his knowledge in the meat industry to add a butchery department to the business in 2001. By this point both of his sons, James and Edward, had cemented their positions in the business and they were promoted to joint Managing Directors. From there, the company would begin it’s journey to become a food service wholesaler, supplying to retailers, the hospitality sector and food manufacturers.
In March 2008, the opportunity to acquire the assets of Cocked Hat Farm arose and the business moved to it’s present site in Billingham. Further expansion took place when the neighbouring factory was also purchased and fully refurbished.
The Company has transformed from Poultry Supplier to a one stop shop Food Service Provider, which supplies the highest quality fresh meat, ambient, frozen and dry goods products available on the market. Country Valley Foods now supplies to customers all over the North East of England and has 20 plus temperature controlled vehicles available to distribute it’s products. You will also find the largest dry aging facility in the North East at Country Valley Foods, which holds up to 500 bone-in primal beef cuts.
